School Board candidate Banwart spends $13,000+ on television ads

The $13,400 that Dr. Christopher Banwart gave to his wife Lynda's Joplin R-8 Board of Education candidacy all went toward television advertising, according to her eight-day-before-election report filed March 31 in the Jasper County Clerk's office.

The Banwart campaign spent $13,420.76 with Four-State Advertising, Joplin, for the ads, the report indicates.

During the filing period, Mrs. Banwart received $16,235 in contributions and spent $14,036.10, leaving her with $3,198 in the bank.

Mrs. Banwart's spending also included $184.38 for business cards from Dixie Printing, Joplin, and $409.39 for yard signs from Davis Advertising, Joplin.

Two fundraisers were held on her behalf, according to the report.

Sen. Ron Richard and his wife, Patti, provided Mrs. Banwart with the use of Fourth Street Bowl and finger foods and soft drinks, valued at $125, the report said, for a mixer March 14. Yard signs were distributed and $925 in contributions was received. Fifeen people attended the mixer.

Hosts for the event were listed as Ron and Patti Richard, Darieus and Theresa Adams, and Dan and Teresa Brothers.

Another reception was held March 28 at the home of Steve and Tami Menke, Joplin, with finger foods and soft drinks provided and 16 attending. The event raised $425 with a $50 in-kind contribution attributed to the Menke family. Yard signs were also handed out at this event.

Contributions for Mrs. Banwart included the following:

Keith Adams, Joplin, $200
Dan and Teresa Brothers, Joplin, $200
Darieus Adams for County Commission, Joplin, $250
Charles Sticklen, Joplin, $300
Ron Richard, Joplin, $125
Joplin Progress Committee $723.06

At this point, Mrs. Banwart has received $1,723.06 from the Joplin Progress Committee.

Imagine all the children school programs that could be helped by the money spent to get a volunteer job. It must be the power that comes with it. Don't be fool by the line, I'm in it for the sake of the children. They are in it for the sake of their wallets.

Darieus Adams for County Commission, Joplin, $250.
Does the above entry mean that money donated to Mr. Adams campaign actually went to Mrs. Banwart for her campaign. If I'm wrong please correct me.

That is exactly what it means.

This doesn't surprise me. She started her campaign by hanging with Huff's regime, she made at least one of her commercials using what appears to be some school resources, she's supported by the JPC, which is totally designed to maintain the status quo, and now she is in league with Adams, who shares campaign contributions with her. This is why we cannot afford to elect Lynda Banwart.
I took the time to watch again the forum for the potential board members. Despite her claim to a fresh perspective and light bulbs hovering over people's heads in her commercials, her forum responses show a remarkable lack of depth or perspective at all. She cannot even begin to discuss school finances (like Flowers and Steele), which is the most urgent of issues the board is facing. Why is she running? In defense of the $62,000,000 bond issue campaign she led and the career path ideology she embraced (but that her children will never have to endure). She is Huff's candidate, just like Flowers the Eyeroller, Steele the See No Evil-Speak No Evil-Hear no Evil specialist, and McGrew the Pay-no-School-Taxes Hyprocrite. Maybe her hubby can afford to indulge her in this venture, but the rest of us cannot!! Vote for Fort, Koch, and Guilford if you want to see a fresh perspective.

Anonymous 3:23 - I'm pretty sure Dr. Banwart makes a decent living and I highly doubt that "they are in it for the sake of their wallets." Mrs. Banwart is a Nurse Practitioner. She is a smart lady.

It was money wasted. The ads are poor in quality and give no details about what she would do to help the district. Of course, she can't say what she would do, because she has no idea what to do. She'll wait until Huff and the Huffalumps on the board tell her what to think and do.

5:34 is correct. The Banwarts make a very good living off of the misfortune of others, so much so that they can afford to throw money away like this. No matter why she is in it, she has run her campaign unethically. I won't vote for her because of that and because she has said nothing about what she will do. She has not even acknowledged that there are true and serious issues. She's just more of what we already have.

Her ads are very truthful, she is not telling the voters what she will do because she plans to do nothing. Finally a honest politician. To 5:34 next time your sick why don't you see if the good doctor will treat you for free, after all you said he is not into it for the money. Of course when your well off you want to stay well off, and the more well off the better.

7:01 - Does your doctor treat you for free? 5:56 - are you saying medical professionals are in it to live off of the misfortune of others?
As a nurse myself, you need to spend 12 hour days holding your bladder to take care of others and then see if you are in it for the money.
I've seen plenty of people that Dr. Banwart has given back a quality of life which is beyond a $ sign.

This money is nothing but pocket change for these people. The progress pack has there own agenda and she is a representative for them.
