The overhaul of Neosho R-5 administration from the Jim Cummins era appears to be about complete.
During a board of education work session Monday night, the board is scheduled to accept the resignation of Special Education Director Amanda Boyer.
The resignation comes in the wake of the earlier departures of assistant superintendents Richie Fretwell and Nathan Manley.
Though Fretwell's resignation doesn't officially take effect until June 30, he has not worked in the district since August. Under the terms of his agreement with the district, Fretwell continues to be paid the remainder of his $150,483 salary through June 30 and the district continues to cover his insurance and pay into his retirement.
The board and Fretwell also agreed not to file any claims against each other and neither side is allowed to say bad things about the other.
Manley's resignation, which was submitted in February, will also take effect June 30.
The agenda also indicates the resignation list, which is printed below, includes the district's curriculum director Karina Cole:

What a loss for the Neosho District. Dr. Boyers is not just knowledgable about Sped, she is also a fun and caring person. I appreciate all the things she was able to do for my student.
Why is this unusual? If you hire a new head coach to bring your program into the winning column, why wouldn't you let them pick their assistants. Would be counter productive to hire new talent and vision, only to keep the old talent and ways around?
Schools are not sports teams, despite districts such as Neosho hiring administrators whose background is in coaching. Your analogy would make more sense if Cummins had been fired, but he retired in good standing. Neosho was not "losing," but was making progress academically. Effective organizations cultivate their own leaders, and the idea that so many of Neosho's "resigned" should tell you something about its culture.
10:33 Do not agree. She was a foolish woman only interested in a big salary and going to professional development all over the country to party on someone else’s dime. She was not a good director nor an advocate for students with disabilities. The special education department has lacked direction for many years. Looking forward to newer and stronger leadership!
How do you know Cummins left on his own? If the old guard was doing so well, then why wasn't Fretwell chosen to take the helm? Big changes were needed in the district. So far most of the recent resignations are great. Lots of dead weight and laziness being cut.
You must not know why she was fired from Joplin. I can’t believe Neosho hired her.
Dr. Boyer is great people. The Sped department at Neosho was operating outside their budget for years. She came in and changed that without a lack of services. The only person I ever heard complain about her was an employee that always had to had drama in their world in order to survive. It’s too bad that the new guy never even gave her a chance.
Maybe if she actually showed up and did her job in a professional manner , the new guy would have given her a chance. Just saying.
Why was she released from Joplin? Inquiring minds want to know.
Just because she resigned doesn’t mean she was fired. She may have decided she wasn’t a good fit with the new administration and decided to look elsewhere.
