A bond reduction hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday in Newton County Circuit Court for Brett A. Mahurin (DOB 1988), Neosho, who is charged with second-degree domestic assault after allegedly attacking his girlfriend April 12 at a home in the 1000 block of Mill Street.
From the probable cause statement:
Victim 1 had multiple injuries. I saw that her lower bottom lip had a small _ laceration and large swollen contusion on the left side. I saw that there was a small laceration on her chin under her swollen lip. I saw that there were red marks on her forehead, possibly from the hot coffee. There was also a smaller red swollen area near her right eye, where something had struck her in the face. I also observed a hand sized red area on her left forearm and a long scratch on her right forearm. There were several scratch marks on h.er throat and neck.Victim 1 and Brett were in a continuing relationship of an intimate nature and residing together at the time of this incident. Victim 1 reported that Brett became upset with her because she woke him up to go to a garage sale located in Neosho.
Victim 1 stated that Brett poured hot coffee in her face and grabbed her by her hair. {She} stated that Brett threw her onto the ground and held her down by placing his hands on her throat,
Brett admitted to arguing with Victim 1 and stated that she was upset with him because of infidelity.
The case was investigated by the Newton County Sheriff's Office
