Missouri Dental Board files motion to revoke John Joseph's dental license

Joplin dentist John Joseph, who is facing drug trafficking and unlawful use of a weapon in Newton County Circuit Court and leaving the scene of a fatality accident and contributing to a child's misconduct in Cherokee County, Kansas, is in danger of losing his Missouri dental license.

The Missouri Dental Board filed a motion last week in Jasper County Circuit Court asking for a preliminary and permanent injunction "prohibiting Respondent from engaging in the practice of dentistry."

The motion cites Joseph's alleged criminal activity as the reason.

Joplin Police Department opened a narcotics investigation involving the respondent wherein detectives learned K. H. and K.H. were consistently traveling to Tulsa, Oklahoma where they would purchase fentanyl and deliver it back to the Joplin area, specifically to the respondent.

On or about March 5, 2025, respondent was arrested and charged with first degree trafficking drugs, a Class A felony and unlawful use of a weapon, a Class e felony in the Newton County District Court.

The probable cause statement states a Joplin detective observed respondent participating in a "hand-to-hand" narcotic transasction in a parking lot near Respondent's business location

Respondent was detained at the scene after getting back in his truck and was searched.

The detective located a large package weighing 11 grams containing a substance believed to be fentanyl.

A search of Respondent's truck found another gram of fentanyl, multiple items of drug paraphernalia consistent with the ingestion of fentanyl, and an H&K 9mm pistol, later found to be reported as stolen from a residence in Joplin in 2016.

While under Miranda, Respondent stated that he provieded $600 for the large package found in his jacekt.

On or about Septembe4 6, 2024, the State of Kansas filed a complaint and probable cause statement against Respondent charging him with Count I: Leaving the scene of a fatality accident and Felony Count 2: Contributing to a Child's Misconduct or Deprivation.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on or about August 20, 2023, when respondent's son struck a man on or about August 19, 2023, and did not stop.

Respondent and his son returned to the scene about 40 minutes later and then left the area without contacting the police.

The complaint, filed by the State of Kansas, alleges that or or about August 20, 2023, Respondent encouraged his son, a child under the age of 18, to leave the scene of a fatal accident caused by his son.

The Missouri Dental Board's Central Investigation Unit's investigation into Joseph's practice included an interview with Joseph's assistant O. H. March 7, 2024.

She informed CIU she had not heard from the respondent. All of the staff at the office informed CIU they were left in the dark and had no direction regarding patient care.

Respondent's aforementioned actions represent a substantial probability of serious danger ot the health, safety or welfare of any resident of this state or client or patient

The current motion is not the only time Joseph has run afoul of the Dental Board.

The first such instance, which was noted in the September 19, 2024 Turner Report:

The board placed Joseph on probation for one year August 25, 2020 after investigating an August 13, 2019 complaint forwarded from the Missouri Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs (BNDD) saying that Joseph "was allowing a friend after hours access to {his} clinic and logged-on computers. Prescriptions were forged and licensee was censured by BNDD in 2018.

The same thing occurred "a second time with a different friend," according to the Dental Board document.

"The BNDD cited violations which included inadequate controls to guard against the diversion of controlled drugs, refills overlapping too soon causing diversion and failure to notify the BNDD of forged or falsified records."

Why wasn't his Bail over $1-Million Dollars - that many Drugs is not just for using, but for Distribution - Stop Babysitting these Criminals - - Stop Being Soft on Crime.

This why we need National Databases for Lawyers, Doctors, Dentist, Teachers, Ect., if they are Disbarred in one State - They should not be allowed to Hang a Shingle or Practice in another State - - - For the Protection of Society.

He and his staff knowing he was high on drugs doing dental work on innocent patients costing the thousands of dollars should be investigated.
