Jersey Mike's, Wendy's at Road Ranger, Big Apple Travel Center fail Health Department inspections


Three businesses, Jersey Mike's, Wendy's at Road Ranger and Big Apple Travel Center failed Joplin Health Department inspections today according to reports posted on the department website.

Jersey Mike's Subs, 1702 S. Range Line Road, received two priority violations in its inspection.

-Cut tomatoes and cut lettuce in the counter prep cooler were being cold held above 41 degrees.

-The discharge pipe of the three-compartment sink was disconnected and the contents of the sink were discharged to the floor.







Other violations noted were:

-Wiping cloths were observed hanging on cabinet doors between uses.

-Heavy ice accumulations were present in the walk-in freezer

-The handwashing sink in the back prep area had a ladder stored in front of it and was not accessible for use.

-Employee clothing and wash aprons were stored on shelving with food.

Wendy's at Road Ranger, 2110 S. Prigmore Avenue, receiving one priority violation and received an administrative violation for not having an up-to-date license posted.

The priority violation was not for labeling its three-compartment sink property. Sanitizer was being used in the sink labeled for soap and soap was being used in the sink labeled for sanitizer.

The store received a core violation for having food debris accumulations present in the bottom of the upright freezer.

The inspector also commented that the spray hose of the three-compartment sink was close to the flood line and recommended repairing it to avoid an air gap or back flow supply line issue.







Big Apple Travel Centers, 2110 S. Prigmore Avenue, was assessed three priority violations.

-Ranch dressing in the dressing cold holding box was being cold held above 41 degrees.

-Sanitizer concentration for chlorine in the dish machine is at 0 ppm and the concentration in the quaternary ammonium in the three-compartment sink was also at 0 ppm.

-Evidence of employee drinks was observed on preparation surfaces.

Other violations noted were:

-Boxes of food were stored on the floor in the walk-in freezer.

-A container of food was stored uncovered in the prep table reach-in cooler







-Food-contact and/or nonfood-contact surfaces of the prep table reach-in cooler had accumulations of food residue. The equipment was not cleaned on a frequent basis.
