Two administrators out in Joplin R-8 shakeup

The Joplin R-8 Board of Education is expected to accept the resignations of Executive Director of Student Services Mark Barlass and Early Childhood Director Amanda Boyer when it meets in closed session 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Memorial Education Building.

Sources close to Administration tell the Turner Report that the two had been given the option of resigning or being fired, though details on what brought out about the ultimatum are sketchy.

Barlass was originally hired by former Superintendent C. J. Huff, when it turned out the person Huff had placed in charge of special education, Lisa Orem, not only was not certified in special education, but had let her
administrator's license lapse. Orem retained her position at more than $100,000 a year, but Barlass was brought in at a slightly higher annual salary. Together, both of them did a job that had previously been done by one person who made $98,000 a year.

Boyer also came to the district in 2011.

With the departure of Barlass, the recent resignation of former Chief Operations Officer Tina Smith, the reassignment and subsequent resignation of Curriculum Director Sarah Stevens, and the retirement of Buildings Project Manager Mike Johnson, the only remaining links to the upper administration of Huff's days are CFO Paul Barr, Executive Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Jennifer Doshier, Communications Director Kelli Price, and former Executive Director of Secondary Instruction, now East Middle School Principal Jason Cravens.

The district still has a number of people who were promoted to top positions in the district or administrative positions as building principals or assistant principals through the positions of teaching/learning coaches, jobs that for the most part served as spies for the Huff Administration.

Dossier has to be next. She has done nothing in her current position except look like a bumbling idiot. I'm tired of listening to her ramble on about nothing. Plus keep in mind she talked the talk about data, and forced teachers to spend countless hours before and after school, for no additional pay, putting data together, but when was asked about the data she was supposed to be keeping she didn't have it. Why you may ask? Maybe because she was getting her car title together to take out another pay day loan, when she is making $100,000+. Or doing other personal business on school time. Like making copies of her financials on th school copier, several, copies, when she had a sign posted that you could not make more then 3 of one sheet. She needs to be gone. She has no business in administration.

What's that old saying about having to sleep in the bed you made?

Boyer was Lisa Orem's house sitter.

2:08 Did she literally work as a house sitter, or is that a euphemism? I'm not being rude, I'm curious. Also, why were these two asked to resign? Were they given job targets? Was there one specific incident? Are the positions being filled or are they being dissolved?

Why not report why they were terminated, i.e., a workplace tryst?

Perhaps the District just can't afford them. The City just dumped some of their post-war expansion hires too. The dream is over now, the music of the night....

@6:32
You don't send people packing in the middle of the year when they have contracts. Plus, the job for one of them has been listed already. Connect the dots, people. Two more of the immoral, incapable administration hires of CJ and Angie proved themselves unworthy of their jobs. Enough said for now.

3:43 am - I don't see the posting. Has it been removed?

6:51, yes, she was literally Lisa Orem's house sitter. She was not qualified for the job at the time she was hired. Others were qualified and had applied.

They were sleeping together. It's all over town.

Who slept with who inquisitive minds want to know..Thank you very much.

That's what happens when you are sleeping together on the job. Joplin R8 is such a mess!
