Globe's GOP Convention blog a miserable failure

Anyone hoping to receive some insight into the Republican National Convention from delegate Nick Myers' blog in the Joplin Globe, has to be disappointed. The blog has no particular insight into the activity that a reader could not have received from watching television coverage (especially on C-SPAN, which allowed the convention rather than a bunch of blowhard experts to tell the story).

For the most part, Myers' coverage of the final day was simply a bit of name dropping (name listing, actually) of those who were in the Missouri delegation, notes from John McCain's speech, a listing of others who spoke, and a final paragraph of free advertising of what a wonderful team McCain and Palin make.

While the blog was a worthwhile experiment, it didn't work. Unfortunately for the newspaper, this is just the latest in a long string of failures for the Globe as it keeps attempting to establish blogs.
