Republican U.S. House candidate Vicky Hartzler commented on Democrat Congressman Ike Skelton’s charge that Speaker Pelosi and President Obama “lost their way” in passing the Administration’s liberal program for the nation.
Hartzler seeks the GOP nomination to challenge Skelton’s presumed request for an 18th term in the U.S. House from the Missouri Fourth District.
Hartzler said: “In a move to deflect attention from his poor voting record, Mr. Skelton recently said that ‘somewhere along the line, the leadership and the White House lost their way’. Sadly, it is Mr. Skelton who has lost his way. He follows Nancy Pelosi’s agenda, not the Missouri common sense and Heartland values of our Fourth District. Time after time he has voted lockstep with Nancy Pelosi.
“Mr. Skelton voted for the cap-and-tax bill that would devastate small businesses, farmers, and manufacturers on every Main Street in the U.S.A. Unless we stop it, this gigantic job-killing tax increase on every person in America will increase household electric bills and raise the price of everything transported by truck, rail or automobile. It will raise the price of every gallon of gasoline we buy and cause farmers to pay more for fuel and fertilizer. Mr. Skelton voted Yes, for the Skelton-Pelosi-Gore national energy tax to fight ‘global warming’ despite the people of the Fourth asking him to vote No.
“Mr. Skelton voted for Obama’s failed ‘stimulus’ bill, another reckless Washington spending spree of $787 billion in borrowed money, in still more national debt that he wants to dump on our children and grandchildren. He voted Yes for Nancy Pelosi’s pork-barrel ‘omnibus’ spending bill, which was more deficit spending, more debt, and still more quick-printed money. Mr. Skelton even voted for the government takeover of our automobile and banking industries.
“Unconscionably, Mr. Skelton handled the backroom deal for Nancy Pelosi to tie funding for our soldiers, sailors and airmen to the extreme agenda of the gay movement, for a special-rights law when a crime alleges bias based on sexual lifestyle. The Speaker thanked Skelton publicly for carrying the water. When fellow Missouri Congressman Akin opposed this outrage, Mr. Skelton lost control on the floor of the House and erupted at his colleague in an embarrassing way.
“Mr. Skelton needed to look in the mirror before he said that ‘they’ lost their way in Washington. After 33 years of living there, he has lost his way. He votes like the other Washington liberals, directly against the views and values of the Fourth District. It is time for the right change. The people of this area deserve better.”

Hartzler: Skelton has lost his way
Vicky Hartzler, one of the GOP candidates seeking to unseat Ike Skelton in the Fourth District Congressional race, has launched another attack against the veteran Democratic legislator:
