Disaster food assistance available to Joplin residents

DSS and USDA implement Disaster Food Assistance in Joplin Food benefits available to residents suffering property and income loss June 7, 2011


Disaster food assistance is available to Joplin residents with significant property damage and/or income loss, and individuals who worked in Joplin with an income loss as a result of the May 22 tornado.

To be eligible for assistance you must meet the disaster gross income limit guidelines, have lived or worked in the 64801, 64802, 64803, 64804, zip codes and suffered property damage, reduced income, or loss of income due to the disaster. Proof of identification will also be needed. If available bring a photo ID and residency such as a utility bill or other mail received. If you do not have these documents, staff will assist you in establishing your identity.

The DSS Family Support Division staff will take applications for food assistance from 7 a.m.-7 p.m., through June 9, 2011, at the Mills Anderson Justice Center on the Missouri Southern State University campus located at 3950 E. Newman Rd. in Joplin.
