Joplin woman says weather radio did not work during tornado

I live in Joplin and my radio worked just fine. It let me know about the tornado warning as soon as it was issued.
I think what people really wanted was for it to go off again and say "a tornado is on the ground at such-and-such a place." They don't set them off again, however, because the Weather Service expects you to take the INITIAL warning seriously and to already be in a shelter. Unfortunately, many people don't take warnings seriously at all.
I think its funny when the lady is talking about how people assume that it must be something like the radio is not on or not programmed right...etc. Well did the lady noticed that her dead battery light is blinking in this news report? Well DUH !!! If the power went out during the storm and you have a dead battery...OF COURSE YOUR WEATHER RADIO will not WORK! Come On Lady!
There is your Failure! Think before you speak! This is insane that this topic keeps getting brought up. The alerts went out across Joplin. Stop beating this dead horse.
I'm not going to post a YouTube video about it, but my weather radio sounded the alarm with plenty of time to take cover. I know a few people who let their batteries go bad , and they didn't hear the alert.

Two words, law suits. These people need to sue someone.
That just leaves a black mark on the whole community.
My radio worked just fine.
It's no one's fault. Storms happen. Just be prepared next time. Check insurance policy, check batteries, etc.
TAKE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY PLEASE. GOVERNMENT CAN'T IDIOT PROOF THE WORLD.
