In rulings handed down last week in U. S. District Court for the
Northern District of Texas, Judge Joe Fish rejected a motion by Kanakuk CEO Joe White and Kanakuk for dismissal and denied a request from former camp director Pete Newman for a court-appointed lawyer.
Earlier, Fish had turned down White and Kanakuk's request to have the lawsuit, which was filed by the family of a Texas boy who was molested by Newman, to move the case to Missouri.
Newman is spending two life sentences in prison after pleading guilty to numerous sex crime involving underage boys.
The lawsuit alleges that the parents became convinced to send their son to Kanakuk in Branson after hearing White speak in Dallas.

It seems only fitting that Pete should have to pay for his legal defense. This will assure that he gets to financially share in the misery he caused others.
The ruling was great to hear. As anticipated this case is getting more and more interesting. Looks like a court date will be set soon, and the countdown will begin.
It also looks like cases like this are encouraging victims to stand up to their abusers. Including those who look away. We all have a moral obligation to take care of the little kids.
I propose that failing to report sexual abuse to a minor should be a felony. Maybe this will force people to stand up for what is right or join the perverts in jail.
Please Judge, Close this camp for the safety of young people.

Excellent point. Let the kids go to Penn State or Syracuse where they will be safe.
3:24 - Does it make you feel good to be caddy and bust on someone's heart-felt thought? Your sarcasm is not constructive. Obviously we are all aware that pedophiles are everywhere. Your self-righteous response is not helpful. College students are age 18-22....Kanakuk campers are ages 7-18...a bit different, don't you think? Be constructive.
