Veteran Lamar police officer named Ash Grove police chief

(From the Lamar Police Department)

Please join us in congratulating Deputy Chief John Davis on his upcoming retirement.

John came to work at the Lamar Police Department in 1986. Over the years, John has become a valuable member of the department and the community. In addition to his police duties, John has served the community in many capacities including The Barton County Ambulance Board, AOK Board of Directors and Relay for Life Committee, along with many others.

John has been very instrumental in the founding and success of the Lamar Shop with a Cop Program. At the department, John has worked as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Major and Deputy Chief.

John’s duties have included firearms instructor, K9 officer, defensive tactics instructor and detective. John was also a long-time member of the Southwest Missouri Major Case Squad.

John has accepted a position as the Chief of Police in Ash Grove Missouri, and we know he will do great things there as well.

John’s last day at the department will be January 20th. Please join us at the Thiebaud Auditorium on January 20th at noon to thank John for his service and wish him well at his new position.
