Felony sex with a student charge dropped against former Sarcoxie teacher- she married the student

The Joplin Globe reports the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office dropped a felony sex with a student charge against a former Sarcoxie High School teacher because she married the student and spousal privilege prevents his use as a witness against her at trial.

Baylee Turner, 26, was in her third year with the Sarcoxie R-2 School District when the charge was filed against her, alleging she had sex with the student at her home sometime between January 14 and January 21, 2019.

She resigned February 12, 2019, and the R-2 Board of Education accepted her resignation the following day.

Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education records indicate Turner's teaching certification expired October 13, 2020.

"Prosecutors have dropped charges against Baylee A. Turner, 26, after she married the student she was accused of having sex with.

In February 2019, Turner - who was then 23 - was charged with having sexual contact with one of her male students following an investigation by the Jasper County Sheriff's Department, the Joplin Globe reported. "

yet then luckily for the defendant

"According to Facebook, Turner and the student married in May 2019 several months after the scandal and then welcomed their first child in February 2020. Turner's student-turned-spouse is now 22 years old. "

Only in Missouri would you have a young student teacher and an adult high school student. Hope she enjoys her new career in fast food.
