GateHouse Media buys New York publications

Continuing its drive to buy every small newspaper in the United States, GateHouse Media has announced the purchase of a small group of New York publications:

GateHouse Media Inc., parent company of Messenger Post Media and AdNet Direct Printing, announced today it has acquired Ad Group WC Inc., from John Van Dusen of Newark. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Ad Group, centered in Wayne County, includes the weekly Courier-Gazette newspaper, the Newark Pennysaver, the Sodus-Williamson Pennysaver and the Lyons-Clyde Savannah Shopping Guide.

“We’re delighted to welcome the Ad Group publications and their staff to our family of publications,” said Kelly Luvison, executive vice president of GateHouse Media. “These products add significantly to our regional publishing strategy and perhaps more importantly, speak to our ongoing commitment in upstate New York.”

GateHouse Media owns The Carthage Press, Neosho Daily News, Neosho Post, Big Nickel, and the Pittsburg Morning Sun among its hundreds of publications.
