Joplin man charged after allegedly stabbing man five times


The Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office filed first-degree assault and armed criminal action charges Friday against Tyretha Dashon Smith (DOB 1993), Joplin, after he allegedly stabbed a man five times during an altercation Tuesday at 403 W. 1st Street, Joplin.

A warrant has been issued for Smith's arrest. Online court records do not indicate he is custody. When he is arrested, he will be held on no bond.







From the probable cause statement:

Tyretha Smith and Jeril Thomas were outside in the roadway in front of 403 W 1st St, Joplin, Missouri,
Jasper County, when they got into a physical altercation after Tyretha approached Jeril asking him to
fight. 

Tyretha and Jeril began to punch each other and during the altercation Tyretha stabbed Jeril five times before Jeril was able to get away from Tyretha. One of the five stab wounds was located on Jeril's
left temple area of his head.
