The following item concerning the proposed Moark expansion in Neosho was reported on KYTV in Springfield, according to the station's website:
"NEOSHO, Mo. - Groups opposing the expansion of chicken houses into Newton County say they don't expect to get help from state regulators. Over the next three years, Moark wants to build 13 houses in Newton County that would hold 2.6 million birds.
"Moark says it now has 1.3 million chickens in the county. Scott Dye with the Missouri Sierra Club says the state Department of Natural Resources has already made a decision on permits for those houses. He says input from a public hearing on Wednesday night in Neosho won't make a difference.
"DNR spokesman Kerry Cordray says it would be unusual for the department to not issue the permits. He says the agency could add conditions to its approval.
"Moark is a 51-year-old company with headquarters in Chesterfield, a suburb of St. Louis. It has processing operations in nine states, and sells eggs and egg products in 29 states."
