In his latest, and perhaps last (it is titled "Epilogue") Capital Calling post, former Columbia Tribune political reporter Jason Rosenbaum, who has continued his coverage of Jefferson City as a freelancer, with is blog, KBIA commentary, and YouTube videos, announced he is moving on:
After over seven and a half years living in Columbia, I am relocating to St. Louis. I have taken a job as the Web editor for Missouri Lawyers Media Additionally, I will no longer cover the Missouri State Capitol on a regular basis.
Those who follow Missouri politics have been fortunate over the past few years to have three political reporters who have provided more than press release coverage- Rosenbaum, former KY3 reporter Catanese (now at Politico) and the Springfield News-Leader's Chad Livengood.
Now two of them are gone and I would be surprised if someone does not snap up Livengood before long.
Rosenbaum not only offered knowledgeable coverage of Missouri politics, but with his videos, he put politicians on the record and provided us with a record of their thoughts.
Hopefully, there are replacements heading this way, but Rosenbaum's departure, following so closely the conclusion of Dave Catanese's tenure, are not a good sign as we enter a year in which Missourians more than ever will need someone keeping a close eye on our elected officials.
Good luck, Jason, and thanks for all you have done.
