Talboy closing in on $16,000 in lobbyists' gifts
With only one month left to be reported for 2009, House Minority Leader MIke Talboy, D-Kansas City, is closing in on $16,000 in lobbyists' gifts.
Documents posted Jan. 1 on the Missouri Ethics Commission website show Talboy added $1,688.40 in gifts during November, most of that coming in the form of $1,510.67 for travel from Microsoft lobbyist William Shoehigh. The travel was to Microsoft's Midwest Legislative Roundtable, according to the documents.
The reports indicate it was not just the lobbyists who were seeking out Talboy. A gift of $178 worth of theater tickets from William Gamble of the powerful Gamble & Schlemeier lobbying firm is listed as a "solicitation," meaning Talboy requested the tickets.
Gamble split the costs almost equally among three of his clients, Missouri Pharmacy Association, Missouri Dental Association, and Missouri Psychological Association.
