In a Friday speech in the U.S. House, Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (MO-4) said the government’s gross over-regulation of farming is anti-free enterprise, harmful to family farming, and a needless added burden on consumer prices. Hartzler’s family has farmed for generations, and her speech addressed the shock her grandparents would feel at today’s over-reaching government regulation of agriculture, and many areas of private enterprise and private life.
“They would be shocked by the amount of government interference in farming today and the overreach of government,” Hartzler said. “The EPA is advancing numerous proposals that are harmful to agriculture. One rule wants to regulate dust on our farms. They call it air quality. Where I’m from, it’s called ‘living in the country.’”
Hartzler continued: “In case the bureaucrats in Washington haven’t heard, driving on a gravel road and planting seeds in soil make ‘dust’! We don’t need Washington to regulate dust. We need common sense.”
Herself a lifelong farmer, Hartzler concluded: “It’s time to get government out of agriculture and preserve the farming heritage my parents and grandparents and so many others have passed on to future generations.”

I agree with Congressman Hartzler. We should get government totally out of farming starting with farm subsidies. Quit taking the 750,000
a year in government dole that Hartzler Farms get every year and you can go what you want.
I'm sure she'll be happy with that if the same thing happens to her competitors and the playing field is level. Until then your implied criticism of her simply being in the game falls flat.
