Joplin Globe wins seven awards at APME

The Joplin Globe took home seven awards in the Associated Press Managing Editors (APME) Contest. Winners were announced Wednesday. Those winning for the Globe:

- Community Affairs/Public Interest 3rd Place The shooting of Bobby Stacy Jeff Lehr


- Feature Photos 2nd Place Living art T. Rob Brown

-Feature Photos 3rd Place Goat over here T. Rob Brown

- Feature Writing 1st Place A reconciliation Scott Meeker

- Sports Photos 1st Place Offense turns Roger Nomer

- Spot News 1st Place Mom told girl to run for help Jeff Lehr

- Spot News Photos 2nd Place Salazar funeral T. Rob Brown


In the smaller newspaper division, the Neosho Daily News won three awards, all courtesy of Publisher Rick Rogers:

- Sports Feature Writing 3rd Place Man in the Middle Rick Rogers


- Sports Photos 2nd Place Outfielder and her shadow Rick Rogers

- Sports Photos 3rd Place Neosho soccer face smash Rick Rogers

Jefferson City News Tribune reporter Michelle Brooks, who received her start as a high school student working for The Carthage Press, took third place in spot news, while former Neosho Daily News sports editor Cody Thorn, now working for the St. Joseph News Express, finished second in spot sports.
