Is anyone else sick of hearing Washington TALK about our economic problems? The people of this country are worried about the price of gas. Some are trying to find work. Most are simply trying to make ends meet. They don’t trust our elected officials to solve the problems facing us, and neither do I.
And why should they? Think about it — on May 16th the federal government crashed into the debt ceiling. Today is June 8, and there has been no leadership from Senator Claire McCaskill or from the U.S. Senate to solve the problem. Yet, the danger signals are flashing in the economy, and no one in Washington appears to care. Unemployment increased to 9.1% and the economy grew only 1.8 % this year. We MUST cut spending and reduce the debt. Yet, I am afraid that Senator Claire McCaskill and the U.S. Senate will vote to raise the debt ceiling without any serious spending cuts or changes to the budgeting process.
I know our economy can be turned around because I believe in the American people. Did you know that 38% of all jobs created since the recovery began were in Texas? Why? Because Texas has no state income tax and is a right to work state. If we UNLEASH the power of the entrepreneurial spirit in this country we will accelerate this recovery and get our country going again.
Here’s what we need to do:
REDUCE individual and corporate income tax rates
LOWER the capital gains tax rate
ELIMINATE burdensome regulations
REPEAL Obamacare
ADOPT right to work
DRILL for more domestic oil
BUILD domestic oil refineries
IMPLEMENT sound monetary policy
The RESULT will be families will spend, save and invest more of what they earn. Small businesses will create jobs and expand their businesses. Our economy will take off like a ROCKET!
I WANT RESULTS NOT RHETORIC. Help me set the entrepreneurial spirit free by sending this message to Washington. I need your help TODAY. Please go to sarahsteelman.com and make whatever contribution you can afford.
Thank you – we can turn this country and this economy around!

She managed to touch on all the Neo-Con talking points. Same tired rhetoric, nothing new, nothing original.
Oh, are we going to build government owned and run refineries. There is nothing to keep oil companies from building refineries right now, lord knows they have made record profits. They could have built as many refineries as they want, but they choose not too. A created shortage helps their price go up, and their bottom line in turn.
