Superintendent C. J. Huff's final effort to manipulate the results of the Joplin R-8 Board of Education race by using taxpayer-financed facilities is beginning in a few minutes.
Huff's Bright Futures picked today, Election Day, to hold a free thank-you breakfast for the organization's volunteers. The co-chairman of Bright Futures is Huff's protege, school board candidate Shawn McGrew.
The breakfast is scheduled to last from 7:30 to 9 a.m.
Huff's previous attempts to use taxpayer-financed methods and facilities to support his favored board candidates include a positive newsletter featuring a message from Board President Jeff Flowers, speeches praising the board members at the end of the last two board meetings, which have been shown multiple times on taxpayer-financed Jet 14 and, of course, the infamous slumber party that enabled Huff's favored candidates- Randy Steele, McGrew, Flowers, and Lynda Banwart to land the first four spots on the ballot.
