Video- Joplin R-8 Board March 25 meeting; Huff attempts to influence election
The accompanying Jet 14 video features the complete March 25 Joplin R-8 Board of Education meeting. A highlight- near the end of the video, at about the 1:23 mark, Superintendent C. J. Huff attempts to influence the board election by offering his own explanation of the district's woeful finances. He receives help from board member Mike Landis, who explains what an "outstanding job" the board has done.

Yeah, CJ you're sooooooooooooo proud that you are applying for other jobs. Fantastic! In fact, you want to get another job so you can come back here and give the speech at the opening day of the new JHS and proclaim yourself "HERO of Joplin Schools". Since your such a hero, how many families stayed at your house after the tornado? How many kids funerals did you go to? Oh I know ZERO!!! Mike Landis, SHUT UP, you know nothing. If you and the board would have REALLY looked at what was best for the Joplin kids and community, you would have gone back to 2 High Schools. We are non-competitive in most athletic events, including getting DESTROYED by 3A schools in a lot of sporting events. Bigger is better??? NO, it's NOT. You people run this school like the teachers are TOY SOLDIERS. I can guarantee that a memorandum was sent out to EACH Administrator and told them to NOT fire ANYONE this year. However, your district sucks so bad, and pays so low, that NO ONE in their RIGHT MIND would want to stay there and work. Get a grip on reality. You have at least 3 administrators that need to be GONE, both at East, and 1 at McKinley. The one at McK should have NEVER been hired, actually, GIVEN the job. She had NO credentials to lead a school that is high in poverty, that large, NO BUSINESS being in charge. And the other people you brought in to interview, I met each one, they were each a JOKE and you (the district/Bessie) had NO intentions on hiring any of them. They were TERRIBLE. I hope Deb Fort gets to work and cleans house, ALL HOUSE at the UPPER ADMIN, you are disgusting by your very existence trying to say "we are doing what's best for kids"......WOW!!!!!!!!!!!
