Owner of area Pizza Hut franchises to close 300 stores

NPC International, the Leawood, Kansas-based company that owns 1,200 Pizza Hut stores, is going to close approximately 300, according to published reports.

Most of the stores that will close are those that offer dine-in, but at this point, the list of stores has not been released.

NPC, which is the largest Pizza Hut franchisee, filed for bankruptcy in July.

NPC owns stores in the following local communities:

Joplin (2)
Carl Junction
Carthage
Neosho
Webb City

Their pizza reached a point where it just tasted fake and chemically...and the market got competitive. They didn't respond well and it's showing now. I have nostalgia about the old sir down places, but at this point they need to blow up the entire pizza line and get a recipe that is edible and desirable...and I seriously doubt that is possible.

It hasn't been the same since they started charging more than $1.75 for pitchers of beer!

High school kids started taking their business elsewhere and never came back.

Pizza Inn that used to be on 30th & Main was the best pizza ever in Joplin. Wish I had their recipes.

I'm sorry for anyone losing their job, but I gave up on Pizza Hut pizza several years ago. The food is bad and the ordering system is a pain.
