Man in his 50s, woman in her 60s are Newton County's 21st and 22nd COVID-19 fatalities


Newton County's COVID-19 death toll grew to 22 Monday following the announcement of two more deaths.

The victims were a man in his 50s and a woman in her 60s, according to a Newton County Health Department news release. Both had been hospitalized.







The department reported 19 new coronavirus cases bringing the total to 1,443 cases.

The number of people who are under isolation decreased from 259 to 253, while the number hospitalized fell from six to five.

The statistics do not include the portion of Newton County that is located in the Joplin city limits.
