Murder charge filed after Neosho man's body discovered in NE Oklahoma

On 11/30/2021, the Neosho Police Department took a missing person report involving Alexis Guajardo Perez, a 22-year-old male from Neosho. Mr. Perez had not been seen by his family since November 12, 2021.

During the investigation, it was discovered Mr. Perez had possibly been shot by Cameron Stotts in the 600 Block of South College Street in Neosho.

A witness was located, interviewed and took officers to the area in which a dead body had allegedly been dumped by Mr. Stotts.







The witness directed officers to County Road 202 in Ottawa County, Oklahoma. The body was discovered off the side of the roadway.

The body was recovered by the Grand River Dam Authority Police Division and the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner's office. The identity of the body has not been confirmed at this time but is believed to be that of Alexis.

On 12-13-2021, detectives applied for and obtained a search warrant for the scene/suspect's residence in the 600 block of South College Street in Neosho. At the time of this press release, detective are still processing the scene for evidence.

The Newton County Prosecutor's Office has filed murder first degree and armed criminal action charges against Mr. Stotts. He is currently in custody at the Newton County Jail.
