Carthage R-9 hires two administrators

(From the Carthage R-9 School District)

The Carthage R-9 Board of Education voted to hire two new administrators for the 2022-2023 school year during the Board of Education meeting.

Flint Whitehead was named Assistant Director of Carthage Technical Center and Susan Hatcher named Assistant Principal of Carthage Intermediate Center.

Flint Whitehead has served as a Social Studies teacher and coach at Carthage High School since 2014. Before assuming the role of Assistant Director, he was Assistant Principal for Carthage High School and the Career Resource Educator at the Carthage Technical Center.

Mr. Whitehead is replacing Gage Tiller, who is taking the role of Director for the Carthage Technical Center next school year.

“I am honored to have been chosen as the new Assistant Director for CTC. I am excited to work with the staff, and community, to continue providing our students with experiences that help prepare them for their futures,” said Whitehead.

“I’m very excited to have Mr. Whitehead returning to CTC, “stated Mr. Tiller. “He has proven himself as a tremendous leader during his time as an assistant principal at CHS. He brings a passion for students and Career and Tech Ed that will be vital to CTC’s continued success.”

Mr. Whitehead graduated from Missouri Southern State University with a Bachelor of Science Education/Social Studies in 2011.

Susan Hatcher has served as an Instructional Coach, 5th Grade English Language Arts/Social Studies teacher, and Special Education Para-Professional/Title I Instructional Aide during her 8 years at Carthage schools. She brings a unique approach to education thanks to her teaching experience in both the UK and America. She will assume the role of Assistant Principal at Carthage Intermediate Center next school year.

“The Carthage Intermediate Center has always been a special place for me. During my time here, I’ve watched the school continuously grow in its efforts to be the best for our students and community, with a fantastic team that is committed to fulfilling our mission and vision.

"It is therefore both an honor and privilege to be stepping into this new role, and I’m excited to begin working with the team and our community in this capacity,” said Hatcher.

“Susan has worked very hard in a variety of positions during her time at the CIC. She has a heart for our students and is passionate and driven to see each of them reach their full potential. I am proud to have her as the Assistant Principal of the Carthage Intermediate Center,” stated Dr. Scott Ragsdale.

Mrs. Hatcher graduated from William Woods University with an Education Specialist in 2021 and the University of St. Mark and St. John with a Masters of Education in 2014.
District Superintendent Dr. Mark Baker says, “We are excited to have Mr. Whitehead and Mrs. Hatcher serve as administrators next year. Both are excellent educators who care deeply about children.”
