Critical Race Theory appears to be key to Attorney General's subpoena to Neosho R-5

 

The announcement that Attorney General Eric Schmitt has subpoenaed documents from the Neosho R-5 School District concerning allegedly improper surveys that were given to students appears to be based on the response to materials received from an April 15 Sunshine Law request to district officials.

In a letter to R-5 Superintendent Jim Cummins, Justin D. Smith of the Attorney General's office asked for all e-mails between the Missouri School Boards Association and Board of Education President Jonathan Russell, as well as all e-mails sent by Russell containing the term "critical race theory."

The requests appear to be connected to Schmitt's ongoing effort to win the Republican nomination for U. S. Senate by having his office concentrate on the type of hot-button issues that will enable him to receive publicity on Fox News.

At this point, nearly all surveys have shown Schmitt trailing former Gov. Eric Greitens.
