Zach Harris, superintendent of the Lamar R-1 School District for the past 10 years, will retire at the end of the current school year.
Harris announced his resignation at Wednesday's R-1 Board of Education meeting.
Before becoming superintendent, Harris coached and taught special education in the Webb City R-7 School District for four years and spent six years as principal at Lamar East Elementary and three years as assistant superintendent for the district.
Harris is a Lamar native and graduated from Lamar High School.
