Joplin woman faces felony charge after hiding fentanyl in her person

Alysha Dawn Fry, (DOB 1993) Joplin, was charged with drug trafficking Friday after fentanyl was found in her person when she was at the city jail.

Bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety.

From the probable cause statement:

On 05-15-2025 I, Officer O’Brey, conducted a traffic stop on a sliver Dodge Ram (KS 0651AJA) for traffic violations.

The passenger, identified as Alysha Fry, showed to have an active warrant out of Webb City Police Department for narcotic offenses.

Due to the circumstances of the traffic stop, Alysha’s history and information provided from Officer Cahoon and his partner, K9 Creed, on the traffic stop, the jail staff was advised Alysha was to be strip searched.

Upon hearing this, Alysha stated, “I have drugs in my vagina."

When I asked Alysha what she had concealed inside her she said it was fentanyl.

Prior to being transported and arriving at the jail, Alysha was asked 3 times if she was concealing anything on or in her person. She was also informed if she was found to be concealing anything and introduced it to the jail that it would be a secondary felony charge.

Alysha said she was not concealing anything on or inside her person all three times she was asked. A plastic baggie with a plastic pipe and 2 tin foil pieces were located concealed inside of Alysha’s person upon a strip search.

The substance located in the tin foil pieces were a white powder-like substance, commonly known as fentanyl. The Tru-Narc was used to test the substance, and it showed to be positive for fentanyl compound. The plastic pipe located had a white powder-like substance residue on it.

The case was investigated by the Joplin Police Department.
