A Joplin man pleaded not guilty during his arraignment in Taney County Circuit Court Tuesday on four felony charges, second degree assault, armed criminal action, third degree domestic assault and third degree assault, and a misdemeanor assault charge.
Jeffery W. Landsaw (DOB 1966) is being held without bond in the Taney County Jail. A bond reduction hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. August 21.
According to the probable cause statement, the alleged series of crimes began with Landsaw assaulting his girlfriend August 9 at a Branson residence.
On the above date, Landsaw committed the above offenses when he assaulted his girlfriend (Victim 1) by throwing her to the ground, getting on top of her and striking her, in front of witnesses, causing injury.During the assault Landsaw threw a table which struck another person (Victim 2) in the knee causing pain and bruising.
During the altercation Victim 1's son (Victim 3) had entered and was trying to get Landsaw away from Victim 1 when Landsaw shoved Victim 3 away. Victim 3 pepper sprayed Landsaw out of fear that he would continue to assault him and other people.
During the altercation Victim 1's son (Victim 3) had entered and was trying to get Landsaw away from Victim 1 when Landsaw shoved Victim 3 away. Victim 3 pepper sprayed Landsaw out of fear that he would continue to assault him and other people.
Landsaw left the room and went out into a common area of the complex where he got into a fight with a neighbor (Victim 4).
Landsaw, who is in a cast, began yelling at Victim 4 when Victim 4 told Landsaw to get away. Landsaw shoved Victim 4 to the ground causing a laceration to Victim 4's back.
Landsaw struck Victim 4 in the head and face with his casted arm causing an additional laceration to his nose and bruising to his forehead. Given the use of the casted arm to strike Victim 4 in the head, it was being used as a dangerous instrument.
There were several witnesses inside the room during the initial confrontation and numerous that witnessed the altercation outside between Landsaw and Victim 4.
Landsaw was read his Miranda Rights but did not wish to speak with me.
Landsaw made several comments while in custody, such as: "I'm a terror down there", "you saved a lot of assaults by taking me away", "I'm not sticking around, I'm leaving" (while en-route to jail), "Thank you for taking me to jail. If another little gay one spurred me on, I'd beat his f---ing ass. I know that's a criminal offense, but ... ), to name a few.
Landsaw has a past conviction for domestic assault out of Joplin PD.
