Joplin citizens tornado debris drop-off site to close Nov. 30

(From the City of Joplin)

The City of Joplin has announced that the Citizens Drop-Off Site located at 901 N. Black Cat Road will be closing on November 30. Citizens still removing demolition debris from structures damaged by the May 22 tornado may continue to use this location as a drop-off site until that time.

The City reminds everyone that certain items are not allowed at this site. This includes green vegetation, debris from new construction materials, black plastic bags, tires, household garbage, and cardboard.

“At this time, we have to continue to focus on collecting the debris related to the disaster,” said Tim Nyander, Public Works Operations Manager. “Unfortunately some citizens are using this opportunity of having a convenient drop-off site to clean out their garages and attics. This location is designated for tornado debris only.”

The site is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week. If you have questions, please contact the Tornado Assistance Information Line (TAIL) at 417-627-2900.
