Crawford County Attorney Reina Probert has formally charged a 17-year-old male with first-degree murder, four counts of aggravated endangering a child and criminal use of a weapon in connection with the fatal shooting of Adam Basauri II. A detention hearing was conducted earlier today.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Schlanger Park.
The Pittsburg Police Department responded to the scene and began its investigation. The juvenile was taken into custody by Crawford County deputies in Arma, Kansas later that evening.
Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation and impending legal proceedings, no further details will be released at this time. All individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
