After four years as chairman of the Missouri Southern State University Board of Governors Dwight Douglas stepped down Wednesday, but retained his seat on the board.
In his place, board members selected Rod Anderson of Monett, but as a commenter on the Southern Watch blog notes, this appointment may only be temporary.
Anderson's term on the Board of Governors is scheduled to expire Aug. 30, 2009, according to the board page on the MSSU website.
Of course, Gov. Nixon may reappoint Anderson, and most likely will since Anderson, who was initially appointed by former Gov. Bob Holden, is treasurer of the Missouri Democratic State Committee.

Not only does Anderson have a term that is set to expire, so does the only other Democrat on the Board, David Ansley. And remember, Doug Davis was never confirmed so that is a possible THIRD vacancy come August.
And it is important to note that there is no student representative. Asking the VP for Academic Affairs to speak on their behalf every month is shameful.
Never underestimate Douglas's weaselness for a minute. Douglas knew when Anderson's term on the board was set to expire. He probably expects to jump back in as board chair in September.
