Latest update from National Weather Service

From the National Weather Service:

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PMCST WEDNESDAY.

* SHORT TERM TRENDS...LIGHT TO OCCASIONAL MODERATE SNOW WILL CONTINUE OVER SOUTHEAST KANSAS INTO WESTERN MISSOURI OVERNIGHT. REPORTS FROM SPOTTERS INDICATE THAT TWO TO FIVE INCHES OF SNOWHAD FALLEN IN SOUTHEAST KANSAS FROM PITTSBURG TO FORT SCOTT AND ALONG THE HIGHWAY 71 CORRIDOR FROM NORTH OF JOPLIN TO NORTH OF NEVADA. SNOW IS EXPECTED TO INCREASE IN COVERAGE THIS EVENING AND SPREAD EASTWARD FROM KANSAS INTO MISSOURI. AN ADDITIONAL DUSTING TO 2 INCHES OF NEW SNOW IS EXPECTED NORTHWEST OF ABRANSON TO SALEM LINE WITH HEAVIEST SNOW AMOUNTS ALONG AND WESTOF MISSOURI HIGHWAY 71 THROUGH 3 AM.

* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...FOR ALL OF THE MISSOURI OZARKS AND SOUTHEAST KANSAS THIS EVENING THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...BY THE TIME SNOW ENDS ON WEDNESDAY...1 TO 4 INCHES OF SNOW IS EXPECTED ALONG AND NORTH OF A NEVADA TO BRANSON LINE WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. LOCATIONS SOUTH AND WEST OF THIS LINE CAN EXPECT 3 TO 6 INCHES WITH THE HIGHEST ACCUMULATIONS ACROSS FAR SOUTHWESTERN PORTIONS OFMISSOURI. * WINDS AND VISIBILITY...SUSTAINED WINDS OF 10 TO 20 MPH WILL CAUSE SOME MINOR BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW.

* IMPACTS...ACCUMULATING SNOW IS RESULTING IN SNOW COVERED AND SLICK ROAD CONDITIONS ACROSS PORTIONS OF SOUTHWEST MISSOURI AND SOUTHEAST KANSAS. THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION REPORTS SNOW COVERED CONDITIONS ALONG PORTIONS OF HIGHWAY 71...54...AND 1365 NORTH OF SPRINGFIELD...AND HIGHWAYS 69...54 AND 400 IN SOUTHEAST KANSAS. SLICK DRIVING CONDITIONS WILL DEVELOP ACROSS THE ENTIRE AREA OVERNIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY.
