In an interview this morning on his first day of the job, Blunt said he wanted the group's efforts to expand into other areas of domestic policy — like fuel economy regulations and auto safety. He said the group will take a bigger role "to ensure the voice of domestic automakers."
"American auto manufacturing is important to our industrial base and obviously to hundreds of thousands of American families," Blunt said.

The official announcement of former Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt's appointment as head of the Automotive Policy Council, the lobbying group for the big three automakers, was made moments ago, according to the Detroit News:
