Congressman Todd Akin, R-Mo. issued the following statement today after learning details of President Obama's jobs plan:
“After driving our national debt to unprecedented levels, the President today doubled down on a strategy that has done little to create jobs and has burdened our economy with regulation and historic debt.
"Increasing taxes and red tape is a formula to drive us from a deep recession into a depression.
“Since it is far better to promote an economic environment to create jobs than it is to punish those businesses still left standing, I encourage the administration to work with Congress to reduce regulation and promote an environment that encourages and rewards initiative and entrepreneurship."
