Lozier permanently eliminating 127 jobs at Joplin facility beginning in October

Lozier Corporation will permanently lay off 127 employees at its Joplin facility at 1625 S. Schifferdecker beginning in October, according to a WARN notice posted today on the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development website.

The job cuts were announced to employees August 6 and will take place between October 6 and January 29, 2021.

Lozier informed the state of that decision on the same day, also sending a copy of the WARN notice to Joplin Mayor Ryan Stanley.

Such a sad thing to happen. Joplin haa never tried to promote or retain industrial jobs for this city, or encourage its growth. All we have are more fast food minimum wage jobs.

City Council & City Manager need to take necessary steps to recruit corporations to bring better paying jobs to Joplin citizens so they can earn a decent wage.
