(From Seventh District Congressman Billy Long)The nation's ire grows as headlines across America read: “inflation is topping 13.2%, and a new Louis Harris poll is out that shows 71% of Americans think the President is incompetent.”
These attention-grabbing headlines were from July 27, 1979, as President Jimmy Carter steered the U.S. into the unusual combination of inflation and a recession at the same time. Today we witness history repeating itself as President Biden strives to wrestle the title of 'worst President ever' away from the peanut farmer from Georgia.
So why then would I ask if Biden is the best President ever? Because by trying to destroy America he may very well be saving it. He has given Americans a much-needed wake up call. Biden, the Democrats and their far left wing progressive buddies have had their time in the sun with their trial balloons of socialism, defunding the police, open borders and Green New Deal shenanigans that will put an end to American economic prosperity and security.
They have put their cards face up on the table and shown us what a disaster continuing in the hand will bring. That will motivate moderate Democrats, Independents and Republicans to throw the bums out in November of 2022 and again in November of 2024. This liberal progressive hand needs to be folded.
In the last year and a half, Americans have seen the difference a president can make on their quality of life. Under President Trump, America was producing the most oil in its history. Gas was affordable, groceries and baby formula were never in short supply and not out of reach of the average wage earner. Workers saw their real wages increasing over 3% pre-pandemic, and the unemployment rate was at 3.5%, the lowest in over a generation.
So what changed? Everything. President Biden had such a severe case of 'Trump Derangement Syndrome' that he immediately reversed every good Trump policy that was moving the nation forward, beginning with the cancelation of the Keystone XL Pipeline.

When combined with his excessive spending plans, it’s all led to the worst inflation since President Carter. And that’s not all. Since 2020 the Democrats have demonized our police, with many even calling to ‘Defund the Police.’ This has predictably caused crime to skyrocket.
Thankfully, some Democrats are starting to realize this is unsustainable, but their attempts at a fix are too little too late. Americans want more police to reduce crime not less but many holdout Democrats still demonize our brave men and women in blue. Demonize them except when they require police officers to accompany them everywhere they go for their own personal protection. As Democrat Rep. Cori Bush (Missouri-01) says "I need the protection because I'm important and doing important work."
What makes this even worse is that the Biden Administration doesn’t seem to care about the rising prices that you’re paying. Just this week Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg was speaking before the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. He said that “the more pain we are all experiencing at the gas pump the more benefit there is for those who can afford electric vehicles.”
What makes this even worse is that the Biden Administration doesn’t seem to care about the rising prices that you’re paying. This is just the latest let them eat cake comment from a cabinet secretary about high gas prices. Secretary Buttigieg and Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm have both said that we should just buy electric vehicles if we can’t afford gas.
The only problem is that an electric car costs on average $56,000. This is substantially higher than the cost of a gas-powered car. It all shows that the Biden Administration doesn’t really care about high gas prices. In fact, they are using them to try and ram through their Green New Deal agenda.
Americans are waking up to the realities of a nation led by the radical ideologies of the Democrat Party that rely on fearmongering rather than truth and freedom. They are beginning to understand the consequences of such policies that are skyrocketing gas prices, and fostering unaffordable cost-of-living expenses, fear for one's safety from crime and overall pessimism about the future.
What makes President Biden possibly the best President ever is that he and the members of his administration have said the quiet part out loud, and they’ve done it many times. This has allowed the American people to see their true colors and react.
