An 8:15 a.m. Wednesday arraignment is scheduled in Jasper County Circuit Court for a Carthage man charged with failure to register as a sex offender, resisting arrest and trespassing.
The Jasper County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of a trespassing in progress at a rural Carthage resident Sunday. A witness told the investigating officer Lee had been warned several times to stay off the property, according to the probable cause statement.
I located (the suspect) a short distance away and (he) admitted to being on the property, but stated he was going home. When advised to stand next to my patrol vehicle, (he) refused and stated he would knock the f--k out of me.
I pulled my TASER x7 and instructed (Lee) again to comply with my commands, which he refused. After discharging my TASER, (Lee) continued to resist by attempting to pull the wires out of the probes.
A check on Lee's warrants showed he had not complied with the requirement for sex offenders to register every 90 days.
