Reeds man pleads not guilty to DWI, auto theft charges


A Reeds man with a lengthy criminal history waived his arraignment and pleaded not guilty to driving while intoxicated and felony tampering with a motor vehicle charges this morning in Jasper County Circuit Court.

A Jasper County Sheriff's Office sergeant stopped Daniel J. Crahan (DOB 1982) 2:49 a.m. Saturday on MO 171 after he noticed Crahan drifting across the center divider line of the two westbound lanes and nearly hitting the side of a bridge, according to the probable cause statement.







Dispatch told the sergeant the vehicle Crahan was driving had been reported stolen in Webb City.

Crahan's history includes DWI convictions in Rolla in 2005 and in Greene County in 2011, as well as a 2011 conviction in Greene County for felony possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest convictions in 2013 and 2021 in Jasper County and a 2021 felony tampering with a motor vehicle conviction in Jasper County.

 Crahan is being held on a $20,000 cash-only bond. A bond reduction hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday, October 23 before Judge John Nicholas.
