Witness fails to show in kidnapping, assault hearing, charges against Joplin man dismissed

Domestic assault and kidnapping charges against a Joplin man were dismissed Thursday after the alleged victim failed to appear for a preliminary hearing in Newton County Circuit Court.

According to the probable cause statement, Clayton Flowers allegedly dragged a woman into a house, kicked her numerous times and threatened to burn the house down. The woman said Flowers held a shotgun to her and threatened to kill her.

Though the Newton County charges against Flowers was dismissed, he faces a federal weapons charge in connection with the incident.

Flowers, who has two previous convictions for domestic assault and one for robbery, is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

He is being held in the Greene County Jail.

What a piece of trash, Clayton James Flowers, is a real tough guy hurting woman. Maybe some prison justice will work out for him. So sorry for the victim, hope she is able to get away and start a new life. This guy should be locked up for life. Hopefully the Feds will be able to lock him up for 20+ Years, and keep him off the streets and out of Society.
