Joplin man charged with statutory rape, statutory sodomy, child molestation


The Newton County Prosecuting Attorney's office filed five felony counts involving the sexual abuse of a child younger than 14 against a Joplin man.

Robert Thomas Davis (DOB 1987) will be arraigned 1 p.m. Tuesday in Newton County Circuit Court on three counts of child molestation and single counts of statutory rape and statutory sodomy.







According to the probable cause statement, the Joplin Police Department was notified May 8 of a possible child molestation. The child was taken to the Children's Center of Southwest Missouri to be interviewed.

The child described Davis raping her and forcing her to perform oral sex.

Davis is being held without bond.
