Lamar man charged after allegedly choking, biting girlfriend


The Barton County Prosecuting Attorney's office charged Chase Dean Hammond (DOB 2007), Lamar, with second-degree domestic assault Monday after he allegedly choked and bit his girlfriend.

From the probable cause statement:

On May 03, 2026, at approximately 11:50 hours, I, Officer Miller, was dispatched to (the house) Lamar, Missouri, for a domestic assault that occurred. 

Upon arrival, I spoke with the victim, identified as She stated on May 2nd, 2026, in the evening, at approximately 2000 hours, she asked Mr. Hammond to be nicer to her son, who is a toddler. stated Mr. Hammond became mad at her and left the room, yelling.  








VI stated once she was able to put her son to bed, she went to bed where Mr. Hammond was located. stated she lay down facing away from Mr. Hammond while Mr. Hammond was trying to continue the argument. 

{She} stated she told Mr. Hammond he was being immature, the argument escalated, and Mr. Hammond started choking {her}. {She} stated she tried to fight back to get him to let go of her, but he became more aggressive and bit her in the face.

 {She stated his aggression and hurting her have happened several times in the last two weeks {She} stated she tried to break up with Mr. Hammond a few days ago, and he began fighting with her, and he would bite her on the arms and face. 








{She} stated throughout the argument, he would tell her he was going to kill her and slit her throat if she ever left him.

 I observed  {her} to be covered in bruises all over her body. Her arms had very large and dark colored bruises on her neck, face, legs, and back.

The case was investigated by the Lamar Police Department.
