Dowd's note to Sarah Palin: True mavericks don't brand themselves

For anyone who glanced at my live blogging of the vice presidential debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin Thursday night, one thing was obvious: I found Mrs. Palin's overuse of the word "maverick" in describing herself and John McCain distasteful.

As I noted Thursday night, "The only true maverick is James Garner."

You know the word maverick has lost its value when many of the same business-as-usual (in more ways than one) McCain supporters throw around the word every time they describe the McCain-Palin ticket.

It appears I am not the only one disturbed by this. Snarky New York Tiems columnist Maureen Dowd, though ripping Republican syntax, and especially Mrs. Palin's, during most of today's column, closes with an on-the-mark comment:

Palin, by contrast, uses a heck of a lot of language to praise herself as a fresh face with new ideas who has “joined this team that is a team of mavericks.” True mavericks don’t brand themselves.

Mavericks are also not known as team players, so a team of mavericks seems pretty oxymoronic. Emphasis on moronic.

Maureen who? Except for Democrats, she doesn't have any credibility. I don't think even Democrats take any advice from her.

Perhaps she could be honest for one time in her life and go over all the statements Biden said about Obama during the campaign but now seems to get away with denying or avoiding. Might be good to hold Biden to the truth too. He seemed to have a problem with it Thursday night.

Poor Palin is not only a poor excuse for a maverick, she has proven she is a complete airhead. Republicans seems to love her losing qualities.
