Cantor: No money for Joplin without cuts, but maximum donation for Billy Long
The contribution came courtesy of Cantor's Every Republican is Crucial PAC. Political action committees are allowed to contribute $5,000 each election cycle.
The Cantor PAC contribution was one of two such donations received by Long. The other came from the Rely on Your Beliefs PAC of the man Long replaced in Congress, Sen. Roy Blunt.
Long received $74,771.74 from political action committees, including $18,050 raised through the Security for America Fund, which has registered with the FEC as an official fundraiser for Long. All in all, Long picked up $178,592.74 during the past three months, according to the FEC report.
Among the PACs giving to Long were Kraft Foods/Global Inc., U.S. Cuba Democracy, Con-way Inc. Dairy Farmers of America, National Rifle Association, Continental Airlines. Honeywell, National Cotton Council Committee of Tennessee, American Crystal Sugar Company, Concordia, USA Rice Federation, National Tooling and Machining Association, Action Committee for Rural Electrification, American Bankers Association, Delta Airlines, Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative, Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association, Enterprise Holdings, Minnesota-Dakota Farmer's Cooperative, Express Scripts, Kansas City Southern, Northrop Grumman Corporation, R. J. Reynolds, Family Research Council, AT&T, National Telecommunications Cooperative, Monsanto, Air Conditioning Contractors of America.
Long spent $50,829.74, leaving him with $209,804.35 in the bank at the end of the reporting period.
