Ed Martin: I stand up for the right to protect our borders

Attorney General candidate Ed Martin came down squarely on the side of the state of Arizona in a news release issued today as that state's controversial immigration law goes before the U. S. Supreme Court. The news release is printed below:
Two years ago today, Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona signed SB 1070, also known as the “Support our Law Enforcement and Safe Neighborhoods Act”, into law.  The law cracks down on those aiding illegal immigrants but that is not why Eric Holder and the Obama administration want the law struck down.
SB 1070 gives state and local authorities the power to enforce federal immigration laws that are already in place due to the fact that the federal government has failed to enforce those laws.  It may seem logical to most people that a state on Mexico’s border would fight for it’s sovereignty, however, the Obama Administration’s agenda is to continue the flow of power from state governments to the federal government, not the other way around..

Two days from now, the US Supreme Court will hear arguments on SB 1070 and whether or not Arizona and all other states have the authority to carry out federal law.

“Several states have joined this vital fight for state sovereignty with Governor Brewer and Arizona, and Missouri should have been there from the beginning”, said Martin.  “This is an issues of control and where it lays, the individual states or the ever-expanding federal government.  This is a fight that Missouri must join if we are to be on the right side of history, and if elected in November, I will stand with Arizona and stand up for the rights of Missouri citizens to protect their borders.”

Chris Koster has had two years to take up this challenge on Missouri’s behalf but finds himself once again representing President Obama over his own constituents.  President Obama has threatened our freedoms since his first day in office by seizing control of our healthcare system, pushing our economy to the brink of collapse, and refusing to enforce immigration laws that are already in place.

Missourians can no longer afford an Attorney General that is willing to sit on the sidelines.  With Ed Martin as our Attorney General, we will have a leader that is willing to stand with Governor Brewer and the state of Arizona in defense of state sovereignty.
