Carthage man charged with statutory sodomy involving 6-year-old Joplin girl

An arrest warrant was issued Friday for a Carthage man after the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney's office charged him with two counts of statutory sodomy.

Bond has been set at $50,000 cash only for Travis L. Ketcham, 46.

According to the probable cause statement, Ketcham allegedly committed an act of sodomy against a 6-year-old girl in Joplin in 2021.

The girl, who is now 10, only recently told her parents, the statement said.

Victim 1 stated that Ketchum would tell her not to tell her parents, or she would get into trouble and told her that this was normal. Victim 1 believed that she would get into trouble, so she never said anything.
The girl told an interviewer at the Children's Center of Southwest Missouri that Ketcham committed the act twice. She described the room in detail and that she remembered Ketcham watching a boxing show on TV.

According to the probable cause statement, Ketcham, during an interview with a Joplin Police Department officer with his lawyer present confirmed the girl's description of the room and that he was watching a mixed martial arts event.

Ketcham did not admit to the allegations.
