Jason Wert announced his decision in a post Sunday:
While I could keep running this site and making less postings it wouldn’t be doing what a Christian is called to do…put God first and the things that God wants you to be doing with your life. If I kept posting on a reduced basis I know I would be tempted to return to posting on a more regular basis and that would come at the expense of God, family or work and none of those three are less important than this blog. In a worldly sense, ending the blog is pretty foolish. I had interviews lined up with Lt. Gov. Kinder and State Rep. Sara Lampe in the next week. It’s just to the point where I had to choose between God and this site. The decision wasn’t hard.

Thanks for the mention, Randy. You do a great job and I look forward to reading your work in the future.

Jason carved new ground in Springfield with his live blogging of city council meetings.
Ordinary citizens got a taste of what was going on in their city.
Unfortunately, success went to Jason's head and he became Springfield's version of Senator McCarthy, stting himself up as the blog police and trying to arbitrate content on other people's blogs.
His borderline slanderous attacks on those questioned his facts and conclusions were unnecessary.
He sold out to the city in February, 2008. After that, his writing lost its edge and simply became an extension of the city's PIO, floating their trial balloons. What a waste.
I will miss his city council live blogs but the rest of his blog posting won't be missed at all.
I love the people who are so pissed their blogs couldn't get the attention Jason's did so they post any lie they can make up in their demented heads. Jason was concerned with getting the real truth out and as you can see from the post above mine that really bothered some people.
Hey Chris, I love you too, man!
What is the "real truth" he was trying to get out?
Are some "truths" not real? How do you decide which "truths" are real and which "truths" are false?
Jason did a good job on blogging city council. The rest of his stuff -- meh!
I'm willing to bet the guy posting here is the same one who was posting things calling Jason's son a retard just because he didn't lie about what was happening at city hall.
