The Missouri Department of Revenue and the local license offices in Joplin and Carthage are working in tandem to try and get replacement forms of identification and other important documents and items to those affected by this past Sunday’s tornado.
People who have had their driver licenses, nondriver identification cards, license plates or license plate tabs lost or destroyed can go to the Joplin or Carthage License Offices and get immediate replacements for these items. Storm victims who have had their motor vehicle titles lost or destroyed can also apply for replacement titles, but those applications will still have to be processed, and they will be mailed to the applicants as quickly as possible.
In addition, because of an executive order signed Thursday by Gov. Jay Nixon, the state fees associated with obtaining these duplicate documents have been waived through June 20 for Jasper County residents.
The Joplin License Office is located at 1110 E. 7th Street, Suite 6. Its phone number is (417) 623-9700. It will be open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Carthage License Office is located at 407 S. Garrison in Carthage, and its phone number is (417) 358-6800. It will be open Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
